Downrange Warriors is the sister organization to Got Your Six Outdoors and assists our Veteran brothers and sisters along the path to personal healing. It can be done. We have done it. Through personal experience, we believe PTSD is really not a disorder. You do not have a disease and you are not broken. Therefore, we call it PTS. You had very intense past experiences that turned into intense memories and they can be managed. We do not encourage or even think it is possible to erase the memories, they made you the powerful person you are today. But, we have found that taking charge of your past experiences and managing them instead of them managing you is simply assaulting the enemy before he assaults you. You can only retreat so long before the enemy catches up and destroys you from behind. We don’t believe in addressing the symptoms. We believe in addressing the cause. That is where permanent healing starts.
Very often the combined experiences of combat results in a complex combination of guilt, excitement, second guessing, missing the brotherhood, remorse, wishing you were back, not fitting in, avoiding crowds, disappointments and searching for a replacement for the adrenaline. We have experienced there is no addiction like the addiction to adrenaline. Managing those feelings and desires is the key to starting down the road to recovery.
Downrange Warriors believes once a warrior always a warrior. You are simply downrange walking through a different kind of minefield in this life after sacrifice. You were trained how to respond to threats in the military and you can use those same skills to respond to life’s new experience of civilian life. We further believe that often the real cause of PTS is an underlying Moral Wound. A Moral Wound is frankly being mad at God or whoever you believe is in charge of this universe. How could he, she or it lets such unfair and horrible things happen? Maybe you don’t want anything to do with such a God. We have been there as well. Or maybe you really have developed a fear of living civilian life and just need a few coping skills to take the offense again. Either way we have ways of helping you along the path to total and victorious healing.
You will not only heal yourself but you will heal every loved one in your life. Now that is leadership, and it take true valor to step up and take the next steps. We often desire to take care of them far more than ourselves...been there too. We encourage you to contact us and allow us the privilege of guiding you along the path already cleared by others. There is hope and there is verifiable history to the success of these processes.
We are partnered with two organizations that have been serving veterans with PTS for over 5 years. The first specializes in a 5-day intense training program lead by combat veterans only, who have been where you were in country and where you are now. The name of one partner is Mighty Oaks Programs and is located in California. We can assist in getting you there and can even help with the costs. The second partner is called Reboot Recovery and is located all over the country. Their program is a 12-week program that includes the family and can assist you immediately or after attending the Mighty Oaks Program. Between the two programs, they have helped over 3,000 veterans diagnosed with PTSD without a single suicide, without a single incident and many candidates have gone further to become coaches to help their fellow veterans. You know, that skill you learned in the military…get a hand then give a hand.
Thanks for your patience in reading this introduction of our partners and we again encourage you to think of your family and just pull the trigger. Call us or call them ASAP. We are waiting to serve you brother or sister.
